Taste and use

This is what makes Sicilian citrus fruits so special:

• Taste: Freshly harvested "Washington Navel" oranges, "Tardivo di Ciaculli" mandarins and "Primofiore" lemons.
• Quality features: Completely untreated citrus fruit. "Tardivo di Ciaculli" is an old mandarin variety whose cultivation is protected by the "Slow Food Presidio" seal of quality.
• Use: Oranges and mandarins are best enjoyed fresh. However, citrus fruits can be stored in the fridge or cellar for up to several weeks. Lemons have a lot of essential oil in their peel and are very suitable for cooking and baking.

Cultivation and ecology

This is how these Sicilian citrus fruits are grown:

• Cultivation method: Organic farming. The farms of our producers in western Sicily cultivate a variety of farming systems - in addition to various citrus fruits, they also grow olives, artichokes, almonds and much more!
• Producers: The oranges are grown by Gimmy Sala together with his father on a 5-hectare organic farm in the hilly hinterland of the province of Agrigento. The mandarins come from the 44-hectare organic farm of Fabio Failla and his family in Castelverterano. Giovanni Argiroffi grows the lemons on his 10-hectare family farm very close to the sea near Menfi.
