When time is of the essence, these steamed organic chickpeas are the perfect choice for making hummus or as a base for a salad. They come from the Zaragoza region from the family business Ecoprado, which grows pulses using traditional methods. Despite the poor harvest due to the difficult climatic conditions, thanks to our personal relationships with the producers through the Tierra y Libertad cooperative, we are once again able to enjoy this wonderful product this year.

Taste and use
That's what makes these Spanish chickpeas so special:
- Taste: These are typical chickpeas of the "Pedrosillano" variety, which are often used as a base in the preparation of hummus.
- Quality features: The cherry peas are organically grown. Salt and water are the only ingredients in this product.
- Use: These steamed chickpeas are perfect if you want to prepare hummus in a short time. They also go well with pasta or in a salad. Rinse with water before use. Once opened, store in the fridge and consume quickly.
Cultivation and ecology
This is how chickpeas are grown:
- Cultivation method: Organic farming.
- Producers: In Zaragoza, in the northern part of Spain, Ecoprado is a small family business that grows various legumes using organic farming methods. The cultivation of pulses in the region has a long tradition and the climate in this area offers optimal conditions for germination at sowing time in November and for efficient fruit ripening and drying from May to July. Ecoprado also cultivates the farm in a traditional way that is responsible towards the environment and resources. After the harvest, the chickpeas are processed in the small factory of La Retornable in Granada, which was founded by a participatory initiative of local actors. This relationship is still being developed and it remains to be seen whether the partnership can continue in the long term. Tierra y Libertad, our partner cooperative in Andalusia, has once again gone to great lengths to find suitable and trustworthy partners so that we can offer you chickpeas again this year - despite high crop failures throughout the region.
