Taste and use

This is what makes the "Red Curry" spice blend from Kerala so special:

• Taste: A flavorful but balanced spice blend with medium heat.
• Quality features: The "Red Curry" spice blend contains mace, cinnamon and chili powder, which were grown in the forest gardens of our partners in Kerala without the use of pesticides.
  
• Use: Sauté the spice mixture in oil for 1-2 minutes, add various ingredients according to your taste (e.g. onions, vegetables, tofu) and season the dish with a little coconut milk if desired.

Cultivation and ecology

This is how the spices are grown:

• Cultivation method: Cultivation in multi-stage agroforestry systems, without the use of pesticides. These spices are grown in the beautiful forest gardens of our partners in Kerala. Various spices, cashews, coconut palms, fruits and vegetables grow in the fields here. This type of agriculture protects biodiversity and is also climate-friendly: a lot of CO2 is stored in the soil and trees and there is almost no need for aids such as machines and fertilizers.
• Producers: The small farms of the members of the "Fair Trade Alliance Kerala" are on average just one hectare in size. The farmers grow a wide variety of products for export, for the local village markets, but also for themselves. Many have an additional income because family members work in the city or even abroad and support the farming families.
