Kerala drinking chocolate 78% (200g)
CHF 21.10
This drinking chocolate contains only cocoa from the forest gardens of our partners in Kerala and sugar from southern Germany. With great craftsmanship, our friends at Garçoa conjure up a drinking chocolate from these two ingredients, in which the unique taste of the cocoa comes into its own.
Ende Mai, if you order until 8. April
Taste and use
That's what makes this dark drinking chocolate so special:
- Taste: The best cocoa with fine dried fruit notes, lightly sweetened with a little beet sugar.
- Quality features: 78% cocoa solids, 22% beet sugar. No cocoa butter and no additives. Blend of "Trinitario" and "Forastero" cocoa. The beans and sugar are carefully processed by Garçoa's cocoa specialists to create a unique chocolate. This chocolate is sliced into fine rasps, which dissolve well and develop their aroma optimally. Here you will find a blog article on the background to this collaboration.
- Use: This drinking chocolate can be used to prepare intensely flavored hot and cold chocolates. Put one to two tablespoons (approx. 20g) of chocolate flakes per dl into a cup and dissolve completely with a dash of boiling water. Add water for pure cocoa enjoyment. Alternatively, add the warm (not boiling, and preferably foamed) milk and stir well.
Cultivation and ecology
This is how the cocoa beans and sugar are grown:
- Cultivation method: The cocoa beans are grown completely without pesticides in the beautiful forest gardens of our partners in Kerala. In addition to cocoa, various spices, cashew nuts, coconut palms, fruit and vegetables also grow in the fields. This type of agriculture protects biodiversity and is also climate-friendly: a lot of CO2 is stored in the soil and in the trees and there is almost no need for aids such as machines and fertilizers. The sugar beet is grown pesticide-free in southern Germany by the rebio growers' association.
- Producers: The small farms of the members of the Fair Trade Alliance Kerala are on average just one hectare in size. The farmers grow a wide variety of products for export, for the local village markets, but also for themselves. Many have an additional income because family members work in the city or even abroad and support the farming families. The sugar beet is grown in southern Germany by 19 Demeter-certified farms and processed into sugar in Frauenfeld. The southern German farmers all belong to the rebio producer association in Tübingen.
