Taste and use
That's what makes this Swiss plum and apple jam so special:
- Taste: Sweet and sour jam made from high-stem apples and plums.
- Quality features: For this jam, the well-ripened fruit has been carefully cooked down. For an optimal consistency, 2% organic apple pectin was added.
- Use: Suitable for spreading on bread or for omelettes.
Cultivation and ecology
This is how the apples and plums are grown:
- Cultivation method: Organic farming. 100% of this fruit comes from Swiss high-stem trees. Produced according to the guidelines of High stem Suisse. Elements of regenerative agriculture. Sugar: Rebio producer association from southern Germany.
- Producers: The Kneubühler family runs the small Pilgerhof farm in Oberhof in the Aargau Jura at around 700 meters above sea level. They look after suckler cows and raise their calves, and cultivate a diversified standard orchard with almost 400 young and old trees. They also farm, which is not easy at this altitude, and maintain many flower meadows and hedges. Another branch of the business is assisted living for the elderly, which Monika Kneubühler runs as a qualified nursing specialist.
This is how the price is made up
The Kneubühler family receives CHF 6.26 per jar of jam from the farm. The entire added value from cultivation and processing remains on the farm.
