Taste and use

This is what makes Sicilian pomegranate juice so special:

• Taste: The pomegranate juice tastes very intensely sweet and sour like fresh pomegranates and also slightly tart like the seeds.
• Quality features: This juice is pressed 100% from fresh pomegranates and contains no additives. Pomegranate juice is considered a healthy source of vitamins.
• Use: Depending on preference, pure or mixed with water, to spice up smoothies or even combined with gin as a cocktail.

Cultivation and ecology

This is how pomegranates are grown:

• Cultivation method: Organic farming. Without irrigation. Cultivation on small areas together with other products promotes biodiversity.
• Producers: The Pomegranates come from the farms of Pietro Scardino and Enzo Rotolo. Both are members of the Valdibella cooperative. In addition to pomegranates, they also grow grapes, almonds, olives and a variety of vegetables. They are supported in the harvest by family members and local helpers. Valdibella uses the "Addio Pizzo" label to declare that they do not pay protection money to criminal organizations.

This is how the price is made up

Pietro Scardino and Vincenzo Rotolo receive EUR 0.60 per kilogram for their pomegranates.
